Tom Haueter sent us some photos of Detroit-Lockheed Altair project that Steve Berkman and he are working on in Virginia. Tom writes:
The Detroit Lockheeds had metal fuselages while the California Lockheeds had wood fuselages. The wings and tail feathers were wood on both versions. John Oder of Huston, Texas has an amazing collection of original drawings for the single engine Lockheeds, which made our project possible. The fuselage skeleton is nearly complete, but there are still a lot of small items to work on. We hope to start attaching the skin in January. The screws are just temporary holders. Some might notice a section of longeron that seems to be missing - that is where the passenger compartment door is located. Any leads on low wing single engine Lockheed parts would be appreciated. By the way, Steve machined the wing fittings by hand.
