AAA Lifetime member, Vaughn Lovley, of Overland Park, KS is currently restoring the Piper "Vagabond" sitting atop the "Woody" station wagon in this vintage photograph. Not only does this airplane have some interesting history, having been an airshow performer, but that history relates to the AAA as well.
When this photograph was taken, the owner/pilot of this particular "Vagabond" was none other than Lowell White, Mesa AZ, a long time member of the AAA. Lowell is on the left in the picture.
We understand that the "Vagabond", when finished, will be painted and marked to match the airplane as it appears in the photo. We wonder if Vaughn will also be searching out a 1949 Mercury "Woody" Wagon to go along with.
