A group of Meyers OTW flyers are making a trek from Illinois to Flabob Airport over the next week. We're getting regular reports for posting, here's the first:

Chuck departed Poplar Grove at 10:02 a.m., Thursday, June 4, checked out by Dan Brown, Sam Kelso, and Bernie McClean, who helped get Meyers NC26487 totally shiny inside and out and ready for the big adventure to the 2009 Meyers Fly-In at Flabob in Riverside, California. Buzzing Paul Rivers and Grant Young on the way out of town (eyewitness reports indicate treetop level), Chuck easily passed semis going west on I-80, flying at 95 mph, "falling in love with my mistress again."

He reports that the engine is performing beautifully; he loves the new propeller, made scheduled fuel stop in Dubuque, receiving compliments on his beautiful airplane from the fuel attendant. Becky Jones welcomed him in Newton, Iowa, where he will stay June 4 and June 5, and be joined by other squadron members for June 6 departure. At last check-in, Chuck had a restful afternoon with the Wall Street Journal, and was enjoying a nice meal and blackberry wine with Becky. Look for the next update on Saturday, June 6. Thanks to everyone who got the Captain off to such a great start on this latest adventure!
