Update #2 Saturday a.m. June 6, 2009
Our aviators thought it would be a good idea to let you know who is on the flight:
- In Meyers OTW #40 - N26487 Capt. Chuck Downey, Poplar Grove, IL
- In Meyers OTW #80 - N34335, Rick Ashbach, Forest Lake, MN. and Donny Raleigh from Blaine, MN.
- In Meyers OTW #67 - N34323, Jim Jones, Newton, IA. and Barry Fix from Alexandria, VA.
- Joining in Lawton, OK., Meyers #32 - N26478 Major Mike Barg, Clovis NM. and Tom Cavenagh from Lawton, OK.
The crew is currently on a weather delay here in Newton, IA. and is looking for a break in the rain around 11 AM this morning. Winds in Kansas are looking rather strong too. However, crew is still in bed so will make final decision after a leisurely breakfast.
Aircraft overnighted in former Maytag Corporate hangar and are fueled and ready. Crew had a wonderful evening. Grilled burgers and sat on the deck and ate, courtesy of Jim and Becky Jones.
Rick received a picture from the local newspaper of his departing flight from Forest Lake, MN. His trip went well to Newton, IA yesterday. They fueled in Albert Lea which was about halfway. Navigation was easy - followed interstate 35! His "co-pilot," Donny, is a 14 year teenager with a love for aviation like Rick had at that age. Donny has been inundated with aviation history and just through two states.
