Enjoy these wonderful images that my son Ryan shot two weeks ago over Spokane. Larry Howard's Laird 1930 LC-1B-300 is featured along with my trusty 1931 Stearman 4 DM Sr Speedmail. We have owned the Speemail 20 years now and she is almost ready for a new engine. Our Boeing 40C is in the WAAAM Museum in Hood River, Oregon until March of 2010.

The Laird is a very fast airplane cruising at 140 MPH at 55% all day long. Note the installation of the new winter shutter on the Speedmail and rebuilt heavy 32 X 6 Wheels. The late Fischer wheels use .156 rim (increased from .125) material and 48 ea .218 dia (increaased from .187) squezed rivits.

Note: after flying the Boeing 40 for 250 hours the last 2 summers the Speedmail is like flying a Cadillac. Lloyd Stearman said "The Speedmail was the best airplane I ever built" and I think he was right.
