If it's March it must be time to head to Arizona for the Cactus Fly-in. This year Marcy and I couldn't wait to get away from the cold and snow of an exceptionally harsh Midwest winter and soak up some desert sunshine and warmth.

We were not disappointed!

The weather in the "Valley of the Sun" was perfect over the weekend, though weather to the west kept many of the west coast participants home in their hangars. Still the variety and quality of the aircraft attending the Cactus Fly-in was outstanding. After all, when was the last time you can recall a fly-in that had aircraft ranging from a Luscombe Phantom and a 1936 Custom Cabin Waco (YQC-6) among other antiques, to a Grumman Bearcat and Corsair, onto a Lockheed 12 and Cessna T50 etc. etc.. There certainly was plenty of aircraft to look at and observe flying !

As usual, the group of stalwart volunteers (lead by Terry and Michele Emig) that go to the tremendous effort to put this event on made it a most enjoyable and safe event. To them I offer my humble "Thanks" as well as "Congratulations" on a job well done.

To all our members out there, hope to see you next March at the 53rd Annual Cactus Fly-in at Casa Grande, AZ March 4-5, 2011.

Finally after enjoying the following pictures, showing but a few of the highlights from the fly-in, please take a few moments to read the attached letter from Terry Emig and the challenge the Arizona AAA is issuing to all other AAA chapters.
