The weather gods smiled on Halstead, Kansas today and kept the wind and rain away during the MAAG Fly-In, though temperatures again hit triple digits. A total of 51 airplanes were registered, including 7 antiques, 21 classics, 14 contemporary, and 9 homebuilts.
Best Antique went to Jeff Newsom and his 1943 L2 Taylorcraft, N46108 (I somehow missed getting a picture of this airplane - sorry about that).
Best Classic went to Mark Zommerfield and his 1951 Piper PA-20, N5590H.
The AAA and People's Choice Award went to John Frisbie and his 1940 T-Craft, N24393.
Best of Show went to Raymond Doerr and his 2006 RV-10, N519RV.
Activities included a pancake breakfast, flying over main street in Halstead to kick off the Old Settler's Day parade, and a Bar-B-Q lunch that was delicious.
Congratulations to all who won an award! Also, thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success. This includes all the people who worked the event and everyone who flew or drove in. I'll include several pictures in the next few posts. As always, you can double click on a picture to blow it up.
