Handicapped Parking

It is our policy to make every effort to assist those with handicaps or health problems to park in the areas close to AAA headquarters or the APM. It would help us help you in this regard if you write us in advance for the required car permit so you will not have to make the trip up to the registration area for such a pass. So if you need a handicapped parking permit, please register in advance and inform us of your needs in this regard.

Golf carts for those who are mobility challenged can be rented from Rusty Lattamer at 641-437-4461.

Camping Information

CAUTION: Those camping in the north campground are urged to check trees in camp sites for dead or dying trees or dead limbs prior to setting up camp sites.

All RV and camping units must register at the AAA headquarters office and then proceed to their proper areas. The camping chairmen will have the final authority as to what kind of vehicle must go to the RV area and those who are allowed to camp in the conventional campgrounds. No camping units will be allowed access prior to registration and guards will turn back such vehicles until properly registered.

RV AREA: A special area has been established for large RV's and has grown in popularity. The RV area is on the South end of the airport adjacent to the South campground, with good access and even terrain for easy parking. This area is also close to the south shower house. While no electrical hookups are available, it is acceptable to operate a generator in this area, however please make certain your generator is properly muffled and quiet running. Access to the south campground and RV area is via the driveway running behind the APM and Flymarket on the East side of the runway.

Pets

The last several years have seen an increase in fly-in attendees bringing their pets to the AAA/APM Fly-In. Being dog lovers ourselves, we do not have an outright ban on pets however we do request that if possible, please leave your K9 friends at home. All pets will need to be on a leash and need to be quiet after 11pm.

Vendors and Display Booths

If you are interested in a sales booth in the main hangar, write AAA/APM, 22001 Bluegrass Road, Ottumwa, IA 52501, or call 641-938-2773, and a form and information will be sent to you promptly. If you wish to consign aircraft items or be an outside vendor, request this data also. A 10X10 booth space in the main hangar is only $75.00 for the entire Fly-In. Larger outside space, same price. On arrival contact Mike Gretz, Airpower Museum President, who chairs this activity.

APM Fly-Market & Harman Dickerson's 5th Annual Pre-Estate Sale

The Fly-Market needs inventory, and if you've got some please consider a donation or bringing your parts to sell. Any parts and projects are welcome whether they're antique parts or post-war classic items like small Continental engine parts or airframe bits for Cubs, Luscombes, Aeroncas, etc.

Twenty percent of the sales price goes to the APM if you sell on consignment, and you'll have a hard time finding a more concentrated, motivated audience to buy. Hours 9-5 Thursday through Saturday, 9-2 on Sunday.

Fly-In Food and Drink

The North Hy-Vee Store will be on site to cater meals and snacks in the 24th Fighter Squadron Mess Hall starting on Wednesday morning up through noon Monday, Labor Day. A wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals will be served. Saturday evening will feature their popular steak and chop night. They will also provide ice and some other carryout grocery items.

APM Gift Shop

Open daily during the fly-in. Fly-in T-shirts etc available.

Aircraft Fuel Services

Once again, the folks from Ottumwa Flying Service will provide fuel (100LL) service at Antique airfield during the Fly-In. The fuel truck will be parked east of Hangar #1 (furthest building to the east) and you will have to taxi your aircraft to the truck for fuel. Steve Black, AAA M-17481, and his crew will be on hand during the following hours.

  • Thursday, Sept 1 - 10 am to 7 pm
  • Friday, Sept 2 thru Sunday Sept 4 - 8 am to 7 pm
  • Monday, Sept 5 - 8 am to 12 pm

Pilot's Pub

Join the Lancaster's, Teri and Mark, and their minions as they once again serve up cold drinks and hangar flying at the Pilot's Pub each night, Wednesday through Sunday, 6 pm to midnight. Pilot's Pub koozies will once again be available by popular demand.

Movies

Aviation movies will be shown nightly starting on Wednesday August 31st at 8pm in the APM main hangar.
